Sorry it has taken me so long to post!! I finished this mosaic a month or so ago, but I wanted to give it to my cousin before I posted it. This was a wedding gift for my cousin Amanda and her new husband Shaun. (They were married in October...I am just a tad slow on giving it to them.) :0)

Now that they have finished the Extreme Makeover House, I can share with you guys the rendering I did! The house was designed by Greg Cradick, the Custom home architect at Estridge. He gave me the elevations and then I 'colored' them with Photoshop. The large of the two elevations is the main house, and the smaller elevation is a community library for the whole neighborhood to enjoy! It's pretty awesome. The show will air on May 17th. I think I may show up in a couple of shots, so make sure you watch!!!

Taltree Arts in the Garden Fair

On Sunday, May 31st I will be exhibiting at the Taltree Arts in the Gardens Fair in Valparasio, IN. This will be my first outdoor fair and I will get to set up my new tent! I am super excited.

I wanted to post about this because I got an email this weekend from the Taltree Arboretum asking me for images of my work to used in the 'Media Kit'. What does that mean, you ask? Well, I think it means that my artwork will be on the posters promoting the show! This is going to be great free advertising for me and it will be something I can put in my artistic resume. I haven't seen the posters yet, so I guess it still might not happen...but I will let you know if it does!

Does it hurt you just a little bit every time you throw away a magazine? Or are you throwing your old magazines into a recycle bin, sad that you won't be able what happens to them next? How would you like to see your magazines become a piece of art work? I know you are thinking, "Gee Beth. What on earth do you mean?"

Give them to me! When you have read and reread your favorite magazines, don't simply get rid of them...bring them to me and I will go through them and save as many colorful pages that I can. What I don't use THEN ends up in the paper recycle bin to help local school fundraisers.

Most of my loyal readers I see on a regular basis, so hold on to those mags just a little bit longer and give them to me the next time you see me!

I have just completed, by far, my LARGEST mosaic coming in at 16" x 20". I think this sucker took me close to 60 hours to complete and it feels like a great accomplishment! I wasn't sure if I would tackle a mosaic larger than 8 x 10, but I am glad I did. This particular mosaic was a commission from the Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Mulberry, Indiana and will be displayed year round in the church's lobby. (Yes, folks...that's my dad's church. My friends and family have been my best customers!)

Thanks for checking out my new blog! On this site I will be showcasing some of my original magazine mosaics. I am going to showcase some of the works I have completed and will show projects that I have in progress.

Magazine Mosaics take roughly 20 hours for an 8x10 canvas and hundreds of pieces of magazine clippings. I get many comments from people about how time consuming the mosaics must be and how I must be a patient person to be able to make these, but they are my hobby. They are how I unwind and relax. I love making them and enjoy watching them build up from a blank canvas to the final product.
